Kwasukasukela is a phrase taken from isiZulu meaning “In the Beginning” or “Once Upon a Time”.
In this immersive projection mapping installation a fusion of AI, animation, projection, poetry, and African storytelling is used to rediscover ancient and contemporary origin stories.
We bring these magical stories to life in the physical space by creating a 360° installation that the audience may walk into, we replicate the hut of a traditional healer (also known as a sangoma – “the one of song”), where the audience can enter for healing. We endeavour to recreate a traditional healing experience, the audience member is transported to a magical and spiritual dimension of story and spirit where they can have influence on how the first stories affect their reality.
AR Posters featuring the 4 poets formed part of the immersive installation at the Creative Africa Forum in Paris (2023) as well as Playtopia (2023) and RHAM Conference (2024).
